Use Policy
Most of us that use this site earn our living using and administering the Oracle E-Business Suite of applications. It is important work. As a registered user, you are encouraged to collaboratively create wiki content that supports our common goals. Please read the rest of this policy as advice for successful use.
- Our focus is the E-Business Suite of applications -- functional, technical, administration, and implementation. Other topics should be covered elsewhere. Please contact JimCrum if you would like a wiki set up for something else. Our main purpose at this site is to share information and help the community solve problems or share experience with the Oracle Applications. Good examples of content include FAQs, troubleshooting tips, examples, your best practices, cheat sheets, and so forth.
- Major topics will have a moderator (or two) to nurture growth, maintain organization, and serve as a point of contact for questions. The moderators know that the wiki is owned by the community first and foremost and will resist controlling it. The moderators will make sure the wiki content is current, correct, and well organized.
- Content you post is accessible by anyone with a web connection and a browser. Therefore, don't post material that is confidential, proprietary, and inappropriate for the general public. Take credit for the material you contribute, and don't copy the work of others. Professionalism is encouraged. Writing something like "XXX sucks" is unsuitable and amateurish. Saying something like "The documentation in the User's Guide for the XXX feature is difficult to understand." is better.
- Post links on forums, blogs, and newsletters. Send links to pages by email.
- Users are encouraged to add information without worrying about making it perfect or polished. Don't consider the wiki to be the next great novel or a technical writing masterpiece. The wiki is a community effort and there will always be other contributors who can help clarify the information. The bottom line is to help others solve a problem or better understand an issue. If your information does that, then you've succeeded.
