Financial Implementation Guide Introduction
The Oracle Financial Implementation Guide introduces a full set of implementation guides to help implement the Oracle e-Business Suite. The guide helps design and manage the financial implementation by coordinating the setups across the e-Business Suite. The Oracle Implementation Guides review the set-up steps of the Oracle Financial Applications to efficiently set up the Oracle Applications and execute the business processes and flows. Additionally, Oracle has created Accounting Setup Manager to facilitate accounting-related setup across all financial applications.
The following interrelated setups are used across the e-Business Suite:
- Multiple Organizations (Multi-Org) Features - defines transaction regulations and access to data for employees and processes.
- Oracle General Ledger - defines reporting and financial analysis access.
- Oracle Subledger Accounting - defines group reporting compliance.
- Legal Entities - defines compliance, reporting, and security access.

Multi-Organization
The Oracle Multiple Organization model (Multi-Org) defines the organizational structure and organizational relationships of an enterprise within Oracle Applications. Multi-Org is integrated into the Accounting Setup Manager so setup can be defined for Operating Units and their relationship to ledgers.
- Multi-Org is the cornerstone of all Oracle Application products.
- How transactions flow through different organizations and how those organizations interact with each other is controlled by Multi-Org.
- Multi-Org is an Oracle Applications server-side configuration that allows business units to use a single installation of Oracle Applications products.
- All operations are consolidated by Multi-Org, keeping data resident on a single database while segregating the transaction data to secure the data within the individual operating units. (Multi-Org)
General Ledger
Oracle General Ledger is one component of the Oracle Financial Applications included in the e-Business Suite of business applications. Oracle e-Business Suite products have been engineered to work together, and Oracle has created a process which can streamline the set-up process by sharing common set-up data across applications. Efficiency has been improved with journal and accounting processes through new
Subledger Accounting functionality.
Oracle General Ledger performs the accounting and budgeting functions. As the central module of Oracle Applications, it owns the set of books that is the basis for all the other financial modules. (

Subledger Accounting

Subledger Accounting is a new feature which enhances the functionality in Oracle General Ledger Applications by defining how journal entries are generated from Subledger transactions at the Subledger Accounting application level. The options are set up for the Primary and Secondary Ledgers only and are entered through the General Ledger's Accounting Setup Manager. A Set of Books in Release 11 is now a Ledger with its own Ledger Set in Release 12. Subledger Accounting creates the accounting like the earlier Release 11i Oracle Accounting Engine created the accounting. (

Legal Entities
A legal entity is an entity which is given rights and responsibilities under commercial law, through registration with the appropriate legal authority, and is enforceable through a judicial system. A legal entity has the right to own property and trade, and the responsibility to repay debt and comply with labor law.
Legal Entity Configurator - Legal entities are set up in Oracle using the Legal Entity Configurator. In setting up a legal entity the following information is required:
- Territory: The territory where the legal entity is registered.
- Legal Entity Name: The legal name a legal entity uses to register with its legal authority.
- Organization Number: The organization number is a number used to identify organizations (autogenerated if profile set to 'Yes').
- Legal Entity Identifier: The legal entity identification number is used to uniquely identify the legal entity (autogenerated if profile set to 'Yes').
- Registration Number: The jurisdiction in which the organization is located determines the prompt for the registration number (for example, in the U.S., the EIN/TIN).
- Legal Address: The address a legal entity uses to register with its legal authority.
