Transaction Description

The Run Depreciation form is a simple thing used to kick off the Depreciation concurrent process. Pick a book and the open period for that book will appear in the period window. This form is also used to close the FA open period and open the next period.

The business process for running depreciation is ...

  1. Run Depreciation without closing the period.
  2. Run Create Journal Entries - Standard.
  3. Review FA reports and verify results are as expected.
  4. Review the FA journals in the General Ledger to verify results are as expected.

If everything is correct:

  • Resubmit Depreciation as in step one but close the period.
  • Do not run Create Journal Entries - Standard again.
  • Post the FA journals already created in the General Ledger from step 2 above.

If corrections are necessary in FA:

  • Run Rollback Journal Entries.
  • Run Rollback Depreciation.
  • Make the necessary corrections in FA.
  • Repeat the process starting with step 1 above.

FA can only have one period open at a time and reopening a closed period involves special circumstances and Oracle Support. See Roll Back Depreciation for a technical discussion of this process. Therefore, verify that the FA sub ledger is accurate and complete before closing the period.
