Bills of Material Introduction

Oracle Bills of Material (BOM) is key component of the discrete manufacturing suite of applications. This module is used for working with item lists and product structures. The main BOM processes are:

  1. Creating a bill of material
  2. Create a routing
  3. Copying bill and routing information
  4. Defining and referencing bills and routings common to multiple items
  5. Assigning substitute components
  6. Maintaining bills and routings
  7. Mass change
  8. View an indented bill of material
  9. Compare two bills of materials
  10. View an imploded list of items used
  11. Support assemble, pick, buy, and hybrid to order product structers (ATO, PTO, and BTO)
  12. Autocreate configuration items to support fulfillment of customer orders
  13. Support manufacturing scheduling
  14. Support quantity driven lead times for available to promise (ATP) calculations
  15. Maintain e-records for 21 CFR Part 11

R 12i BOM New Features

Oracle BOM R12i New Features
  1. Sequencing Window for a resource on a Department Resource Form
  2. Batchable Resource Identification
  3. Improved usability in Setup Changeovers
  4. Capture Inverse Usage
  5. Expanded shop floor management (OSFM) capability
  6. Added lot based quantity for components
  7. Batching for BOM open interface
  8. Some attributes now can be updated at the organization level
